Drafted 1st overall by the Seattle Mariners in the 1987 MLB Amateur Draft, Ken Griffey, Jr. made his Major League debut on April 3, 1989. He would have a solid rookie year, finishing 3rd in AL Rookie of the Year voting behind pitchers Gregg Olson and Tom “Flash” Gordon. The following season, in 1990, Griffey would hit .300 with 22 home runs and 80 RBI, and a Hall of Fame career was well underway. This size 7 ¼ solid blue Seattle Mariners cap manufactured by New Era was game worn by Griffey during the 1990 MLB season. This is a great opportunity to pick up a rare early career cap of “The Kid”. The hat features an embroidered yellow “S” on the front of the cap, and Griffey’s number “24” has been handwritten in black marker on the gray underside of the brim. The inner sweatband has “DIAMOND COLLECTION” and “New Era” tags with a “7 ¼” flag. Griffey has signed his name in blue marker on the underside brim and inscribed “#24”. The cap displays excellent game use with some sweat stains on the inner band. This item comes with a LOA from JT Sports for the game use and a LOA from JSA (BB26688) for Griffey’s signature.
