I've been told the utilitarian purpose of this fabulous   piece is either an inkwell or for incense.  The verdict seems to still be out.  I purchased it for it's unique beauty and condition.
Description:
Figural Capodimonte Porcelain Ink Well or Possibly an Incense Censer. Wonderfully executed in the shape of a  Genie. The end of the lamp opens and includes the inner porcelain receptacle used to hold the ink or incense.
The mark on base indicates the piece is circa 19th century. Exquisitely hand painted. Applied gilding throughout piece.
Measurements :
6” (w);  5" (h); 2.5" (d)
Condition:
Excellent antique condition with no chips, cracks or or restorations.   Some paint and gilding loss as pictured (very minimal considering age of this piece).
This is a RARE and wonderful example of 19th century porcelain for any collection.
