19TH CENTURY WAX OVER PAPER MACHE HEAD DOLL W/ DRESS, APRON, LEGS, FLAWS

$ 39.6

Availability: 100 in stock
  • Packaging: Without Packaging
  • Condition: Her wax covered face was not well taken care of and has suffered from being in places that were too warm while pressed against other things resulting in some unfortunate impressions in the wax. I feel sure that the coloring of her face was more attractive once upon a time. Please see the photos. Someone has tried to repair some of the other damage that she suffered in her long life. There are clumsy tape repairs to her arms as well as to the area of her upper legs and lower torso. One arm has cracking to the surface. The other does not but may be either restored or a replacement. The toe of one foot has tiny chips while the tip of the other toe is chipped off with some retouching of the orange which perhaps was done before the rest of the tip broke off. The dress is quite presentable but does have a few thin spots and small breaks. I have not attempted to remove her dress to find whatever other flaws might exist. She is being offered as is with all flaws, known and unknown.

    Description

    Nineteenth century doll with wax over paper mache head. The positives are that she wears a really nice early plaid dress with velvet trim, an early lace edged apron, and she has molded lower legs with orange shoes, blue striping and white socks. She has glass eyes. She has tiny wires in her ears for earrings but no earrings. She wears a snood. I can’t tell whether her hair is real hair or not.
    The negatives are: her wax covered face was not well taken care of and has suffered from being in places that were too warm while pressed against other things resulting in some unfortunate impressions in the wax. I feel sure that the coloring of her face was more attractive once upon a time. Please see the photos. Someone has tried to repair some of the other damage that she suffered in her long life.
