    This release is dedicated to the German artist and mathematician Albrecht Dürer on the anniversary of his 550th birthday.
    Albrecht Dürer (1471-1528) is one of the representatives of the Renaissance and became famous for his numerous detailed paintings. In addition to his art, he was also known as a mathematician and goldsmith.
    The obverse features a depiction of one of Dürer's woodcuts entitled "St. George and the Dragon".
    The reverse depicts the coat of arms of Malta as well as the year of issue and the stars of Europe.
