Details
Description:
A beautiful very fine 1929 (1348 AH) Egyptian copper-nickel coin. This is the ten milliemes or one piastre copper-nickel coin. The coin depicts the uniformed bust of king Fouad the First or Fuad I of Egypt wearing a military uniform and facing left on the obverse. Fouad I ruled during the British occupation of Egypt. The coin shows the denomination on the reverse as well as the date of issue as 1929 AD and 1348 AH and the words Egyptian Kingdom. This is a rather scarce coin in such a nice grade due to the fact that it is of very low denomination and normally would have seen extensive circulation. It is KM-347. It measures approximately 23 mm in diameter and weighs about 5.2 grams. The coin has a plain rim. Please carefully review the scan as it is part and parcel of our description.
Date:
1929 AD - 1348 AH.
Mint:
Egypt. Actually these coins were struck in Budapest Hungry as evidenced by the letters "BP" under the AD date on the reverse.
Size and weight:
This is a 10 milliemes measuring ~23 mm in diameter and weighs about 5.2 gm.
References:
It is KM #347.
Condition:
I would grade the coin as a good very fine or better. The coin has all of its details well preserved and is nicely toned. It has signs of wear to the high points, a few scratches in the fields and some minor bag marks. A nice coin to add to your collection. Please see photo for additional condition information and to appreciate the beauty of this nice coin.
